We live in a screen-filled world, and my god it can be hard to disconnect.
This shiny little device you’re holding in your hand can so easily become a crutch you turn to whenever you feel tired, overwhelmed, anxious or sad.
It distracts us. Drains us. It’s often the first thing to look at in the morning, and the last thing you see at night.

Possibility sits in the rising sun, dewy morning fresh after the darkness of night.
It’s the bud of a new flower, bursting with anticipation, waiting to bloom.

Possibility sits side by side with potential, optimism and alchemy. It’s to say -

TW: Pregnancy Loss 🤍

At the start of December, I had a miscarriage.

This was a pregnancy, a baby, that was very much wanted and longed for after over 2 years of fertility struggles and what’s felt like endless trying. Endless negative tests. Endless limbo.

My pregnancy was one riddled with anxiety, to finally be pregnant after years of not… felt scary.
The thought of a loss was inconceivable, a terrible thing that gave me nightmares.
It sent me into a panic when my bloodwork wasn’t looking good.
It settled quietly when I saw a teeny heart beat on a screen.
But it roared within me when it became clear that the pregnancy was over so soon.

I feel sad at the thought of the next year now yawning ahead without a birth to prepare for or a baby in sight.
It feels like a different type of grief to what I’ve felt before - yes there is grieving a loss of life, the disappointment and sadness. But there is also mixed in fear and trepidation at the thought of trying, of putting myself at risk of experiencing all of this, again.

I am still working through this pain, landing in this reality of a life post-loss but I’m doing better.
For a time, the pain of grief is sharp and unbearable.
But with time, and patience - it softens, and it is already softening. 🤍

I’ve long thought about sharing more about my fertility struggles here.
And if I’m honest, things have felt stagnant in the past year in part because I haven’t shared the depth of this journey that’s been dominating my life until now.
I’ve felt the pull to speak to it many, many times - but I’ve always shied away in fear.

It’s not fair to say that ‘these things happen for a reason’, but I do know that we can also find our own meaning in the pain.
I feel in my heart that the experiences I’ve had over the past couple of years, and how I’ve managed my own healing will go a long way in allowing me to help other women who are also following their red thread, and anxiously trying to start a family.

But for now, I’m taking the time to heal. Connecting with the hope of a successful pregnancy, and trusting our little family will grow soon. 🤍

It’s so easy to go through life being battered by the constant waves of emotions, unregulated and maybe sometimes a big unhinged.

Sometimes it can feel a little murky where these emotions are coming from.
You might put it down to a stressful day. Or a bad nights sleep. But could something else be going on for you?

The truth is, your emotions are your messengers.

Anger is here to reveal something.
Sadness speaks when it needs to be heard.
Fear is tapping you on the shoulder for a reason.

They’re pointing you towards what needs to be shifted. Unblocked. Healed.

Sometimes, all it takes is a moment to tune into your body, take a deep breath, and ask yourself… why?

Why am I feeling this anger, sadness, or fear? Then, wait for the answers. Maybe it’s an old memory, a feeling of being forgotten or rejected, or a belief that you’ll be judged for pursuing your desires.

Your emotions are the entry point into the deeper work available to you.

This is what I do with EFT and my clients. Slowly, gently, patiently - we ask why. And then we tap & clear, calm & soothe so that all that stuff under the surface can heal.

One of the most powerful qualities you can have, to lead you on your path of healing or success is willingness.

A willingness to change.
A willingness to dig a bit deeper.
A willingness to sit in the uncertainty.
A willingness to feel what feels uncomfortable, or tricky or hard.
A willingness to get better. To do better next time.
To reflect and rehash with self-love and self-compassion.
A willingness to try. And then try again. And again.

Willingness is the seed of desire.
It comes from a belief deep of “I think things could get better.”.

It’s a gentle nudge from yourself to say…
I’m not sure I’m totally happy with this way of being, this circumstance.
But I don’t want to stay stuck and stubborn.
I’m willing to put one foot in front of the other, take a small step towards what I want, and make a change.

That’s powerful stuff.

So I encourage you to ponder this…

When you’re in fear, it can be hard to see beyond what you’re feeling in the moment. You might be stuck, frozen in place or feel like making a hasty retreat.
Here’s a quick tapping script you can use any time you’re feeling fear. Remember before you tap, identify the emotion you feel. Feel into where it is in the body. Rate how strong the emotion is out of 10, and then… tap:

Set Up Statement: Even though I feel this fear in my body and I have all these fearful thoughts racing through my mind. I acknowledge how I feel now. And I choose to love and accept myself anyway.
Top of head: All of this fear that I’m feeling.
Eyebrow: I feel this fear in my body.
Side of eye: All of this fear.
Under eye: This fear feels overwhelming.
Under nose: This fear is holding me back.
Under mouth: All of this fear that I feel.
Collarbone: I acknowledge how stuck in fear I feal. But I’m open to softening this feeling now.
Under arm: This fear in my body.
Ribs: I know I can begin to release this fear. It’s safe for me to let this go.

Repeat this sequence as many times as you need, and see what shifts so that you can move forward with a deeper sense of peace. 🥰

Last month, for my day job I helped facilitate a masterclass and had to do some public speaking in real life (not behind a screen!) for the first time in many years.
I knew this would be an opportunity for growth, and I could use it as a catalyst to heal some old fears and stretch what felt possible and easy for me.

✨ Here’s what I did to prepare myself ✨

🎤I had a session with my EFT mentor where explored some deeper beliefs that were sitting under the surface. Namely, a fear of being seen and worry about what others might think.

🎤I journalled about some of the more surface level things I was embarrassed about that often happen when I speak in public. In the past, my voice would shake, I’d struggle to pace my breathing and I would flush the most incredible shade of crimson red. So, I used EFT to clear the shame, embarrassment about past events, as well as the fear of it happening again.

🎤The night before, I used a guided tapping practise to help me visualise the day - from waiting to speak, to walking to the podium and presenting. I allowed the visualisation to trigger my stress response and tapped along to soothe that same response. The tapping helped soothe my cortisol spike and find a new reaction to this stress.

💞What happened? 💞
On the day I felt… calm.
There was this bizarre feeling of thinking “I should feel nervous” but realising I didn’t. Part of me was even looking forward to getting up and getting it done. 🤯

When I did present, there was a bit of shakiness but it eased quickly and I felt confident. I may have gone a little red, but I got through everything I needed to with ease. ✨
Post masterclass, people commented that I came across as natural! I have no doubt that if I hadn’t done the work, my experience would have been so different. Swipe to see me in action 🥰🎤

This is what I LOVE about EFT - It is the multi-layered work we do when we tap. You can heal childhood stories, clear shame and soften the stress response.

How do you go about ensuring that you’re maintaining some sense of balance in your life and avoiding burnout?

Imagine every key area of your life is a burner on a stove. You’re in control of the dials, but you only have a finite amount of gas to use before you run out.

Family, work, business, love-life, friendships, health, joy—every day or season pulls us in different directions. It’s impossible to have all your burners on and firing at once, so ✨your✨ job is to learn the art of distributing your energy between your burners.

⚖️Need to find a new job?
Turn that burner up and decide what you can say no to, to create a little more space.

⚖️Have a significant other in need or unwell?
Consider how you can drop a few things off your plate so you can show up for them.

⚖️Want to hit a big financial goal?
Amazing, but what’s going to support you in doing that, and are there burners you actually can’t afford to turn down?

Finding balance isn’t a destination—it’s an evolving process. And one not immune to the will of others, things outside your control and the natural progression of time.

So, when we turn one burner up alllllll the way in spite of the others we end up depleted, lacking energy and spark to keep going.

Or worse, we get what we want but realise too late the sacrifices have been too great (this is a big one when you think about the effects of stress on your health.)

If you’re always trying to be and achieve 100% perfection in every area of life, day after day - you’ll run out of puff.
